When wearing a rich hue, any mistakes can be easily seen. Follow these steps to achieve perfect feather-free bold lips that looks perfectly polished:

Smooth, soft kissers are the best canvases for bold hues, so prime your pout with lip balm. If you have dry or chapped lips, this will prevent your lipstick from seeping into cracks. Apply and let it sit for five minutes then blot the excess with a tissue.

To keep lipstick from feathering, dip a cotton tip in translucent powder and roll it just outside your lip line before putting on any color. Next, outline lips with a lip pencil in the same shade as your lipstick or slightly lighter, tracing just inside your natural lip line.

Apply lipstick (pick a long-lasting formula), starting at the middle of your lips, and work the color to the outer edges. For the most precise application, keep your lips relaxed -- too much puckering can give an uneven finish. Blot with a tissue, and finish with another coat.

Done! Your lipstick should last for hours -- just refrain from pressing your lips together afterwards.
