Q&A

Is It Possible To Overdo Skincare?

Question:

I like to try out many different skincare regimes. Can one clash with another or make it ineffective?

If you're a true beauty junkie, the sheer amount of products you use can possibly overwhelm your skin and make a skin issue worse!

This is especially true with acne-fighting formulas and it's the reason why acne-prone women who treat their skin with a slew of pimple creams find their skin become sensitive and irritated. Combating pimples with several products -- think potentially-drying agents such as benzoyl peroxide or prescription-only tretinoin on top of exfoliants like glycolic acid -- can lead to dryness, redness, irritation or even a mild burn.

To avoid product overdose, give your skin a 3-day rest in between exfoliating, acne and whitening creams. If you're in doubt, see a dermatologist for advice.
