Back Pain, Aches & Injuries at Work

Understanding what causes workplace backaches and how to avoid them.
Back pain is one of the most common form of ill health disorders at work. Occupations that require long hours of standing or sitting tend to place demands on the back and therefore more likely to result in workplace back pain. Fortunately, back pain and injuries can be managed if you pay attention on their causes and take preventive measures.

What Causes Back Pain?

In most cases, back pain does not appear to have an identifiable cause, but some work-related factors may put you at risk for back disorders:

If your job is physical in nature, lifting and moving heavy objects can result in back injuries. This is especially so if the task is repetitive, which can lead to muscle fatigue or injury. In addition, work stress can also make you more prone to injuries by contributing to muscle tension and tightness.

Posture is another main culprit behind workplace back pain. If your job requires you to sit or stand for extended periods of time, such as sitting in front of a computer screen for long hours, you may experience occasional aches and pains.
