Pregnancy Symptoms: When Will My Tummy Start Showing?

Question:

When will a baby bump start to show? I'm 15 weeks pregnant and my tummy still doesn't show.

Because every expecting mom is different, it's hard to pin an average on when the bump will start to show. While the uterus will start to get noticeably bigger at some point around 12 to 14 weeks for most moms-to-be, some women don't really start to show until 20 weeks -- it really depends on your overall physique and how many times you have been pregnant.

For example, first-time pregnancies often don't show until later as the uterine muscles tend to be stronger. If you're physically in good shape and this is your first pregnancy, you may not start to show until 20 weeks. Likewise, if you are plus-size, you may not notice a bump until you're further along.

At 15 weeks, your uterus is just beginning to protrude above your pubic bone, so it is not unusual for you not to show yet. What's more important right now is ensuring that you are eating well-balanced meals and gaining consistently. Regular prenatal checkups will also help to reassure you that your baby is growing normally.

Good luck and take care.
