Is coffee safe?

Caffeine does cross the placenta, and it can cause changes in your baby's sleep pattern or normal movement pattern in the later stages of pregnancy. However, studies have shown that only really high doses are risky.

Consuming moderate levels of caffeine (150mg to 300mg) is fine, according to the American Pregnancy Association, but your safest course is to avoid caffeine as much as possible.

Also keep in mind that other drinks such as some sodas and teas can contain caffeine, too. If you want to keep drinking your coffee, limit your other caffeine sources, like caffeinated beverages and chocolates.
