When Cesaerean Birth is the Better Option

Find out when a c-section is the best route for you and your baby.

Common Medical Reasons for Cesaerean

The labour process is too lengthy.
Other times, a cesaerean is performed because your cervix does not dilate completely despite attempts to stimulate contractions, or the baby's head is too large to pass through your pelvis. During these times, the doctor may order a c-section if he finds that the labour process is taking too long and that continued labour is no longer in the interest of you or your baby.

You have health problems.
If you have a health problem such as diabetes, heart disease, lung disease or high blood pressure, your doctor may need to induce labour early.

If you have genital herpes flare-ups during labour or if you're HIV positive, a Caesarean is considered safer for your baby because it can protect your baby from infection.
