- 3. The eye area contains very few sebaceous glands, meaning skin elasticity is comprised and the tissue under the skin has a tendency to lose its firmness. Therefore it is very easy for the eye area to appear swollen and eye bags can develop.
- 4. Other factors contributing to eye bags are: lack of sleep, fatigue and genetic factors. In these cases, there is excessive water retention under the eyes, causing the area to appear swollen.
- 5. Sufficient sleep is the best way to prevent and diminish eye bags. You should sleep for at least 8 hours a day. Make sure your pillow is at least 4 inches high - this can help drain the water under the eyelids.
- 6. Place wet cotton pads into the refrigerator and place them over closed eyes for 5 minutes. Then, with your eyes closed, use fingers to massage the undereye area and underneath the brow bone for a few minutes. Massaging everyday helps stimulate lymph circulation and disperse water trapped under the eyelids.
