Glycolic acid

ACTION: Unclogs pores.

CONCENTRATION: Up to 10%.

DESCRIPTION: Glycolic acid belongs to the alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) family. Being the smallest alpha-hydroxy acid, it is presumed to have a better capacity to penetrate the skin. It is able to remove excess oils and any surface debris to unclog pores. Because glycolic acids remove shedding cells from within the follicles, they effectively prevent the formation of comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) -- the initial formation of pimples. This exfoliating action of gylcolic acid has another benefit: It refines your skin texture, improves existing scars and blemishes and rejuvenates sun-damaged skin.
