(Note: Natural creations can be much less likely to cause an adverse reaction but it's still best to do a small patch test first.)
Strawberry & kiwi cleanser
Suitable for: All skin typesYou'll need: Strawberries, 1 kiwi, 1/2 cucumber, a blender
Peel the kiwi and mix the ingredients in a blender to form a thin paste. Aim for a consistency that can be easily applied to your face without creating a drippy mess but don't worry if this doesn't happen -- you can always thicken it with oatmeal if needed. Massage across the face and rinse off with warm water after 5 to 10 minutes.
Cucumber toner
You'll need: 1/2 cucumber, 1/2 ounce witch hazel, a blenderPuree the cucumber in a blender, strain into a bowl and mix in the witch hazel.
Lemon toner
Suitable for: Oily skinYou'll need: 1/2 cup lemon juice, 1 cup distilled water, 1/2 cup witch hazel
Mix the ingredients together and store in the refrigerator. It should stay fresh for up to a week if kept in the fridge. Shake well before use.
Natural spot treatments
You'll need: Lemon juice, cotton ball, aspirin tablet, waterSqueezing some lemon juice onto a cotton wool ball and holding it to a blemish for a couple of minutes can help to dry it out. For spots that are particularly red, try crushing an aspirin tablet and mix it with water to create a paste that you can apply to the blemish for a short while to reduce inflammation and redness.
Exfoliating face scrub
Suitable for: Normal skinYou'll need: Sugar, baking soda, sesame oil
Mix the ingredients together to form a paste and massage gently across your face. As with any exfoliating product, limit usage to once or twice a week so that your skin isn't stripped of too much moisture.
