How Laser Resurfacing Works
Laser resurfacing uses a beam of precise and intense laser light directed over the skin area to be treated. There are two primary categories of the laser techniques used: ablative (such as CO2 and Erbium) and nonablative (such as CoolTouch and Smoothbeam). Both types of resurfacing techniques result in a tightening of the collagen and elastic fibers of the dermis (middle layer of the skin), giving the skin a firmer and more youthful look.
