Want to brush up on your healthy eating knowledge? Check out these ten diet and nutrition tips from Nicole Croft-o'Halloran, a registered dietitian at Access Nutrition.
1. Eat your carbs
Carbohydrates are important for health in the long term, says Croft-o'Halloran who recommends aiming for half of your energy intake from carbs. Yet many women avoid carbs thinking they're "fattening". The key is not to eliminate entirely, but to be selective. Choose the good carbs -- those containing complex carbohydrates and fiber like those found in fruits, vegetables and whole grains -- over processed carbs such as white flour, cake, donut and pasta.
