Breastfeeding position:

Side-lying hold

In this position, you nurse while lying on your side in bed -- great for tired moms.

How-to: Lie on your side, with your baby facing your breast. Pull him in snugly and cradle his head with the hand of your bottom arm. With your other hand, grasp your breast and guide the baby to your nipple. Your baby shouldn't strain to reach your nipple -- if he needs to be higher, place a small folded towel under his head. Once your baby latches on, use the bottom arm to support your own head.

Best for: Some moms find the lying position helps their newborn latch onto your breast correctly in the early days of breastfeeding. This position is also easier for moms recovering from a cesarean or difficult delivery.
