By the sixth month, the baby weighs in at about 0.6 kilogram (1.4 pounds) and 30 cm (11.8 inches) in total length. It can hear your voice, heartbeat and breathing, responds to sounds by moving or increasing its pulse, so now's a great time to start reading and talking to your baby. You may notice jerking motions if it hiccups. The baby is also depositing brown fat, which will help it regulate body temperature at birth.
