4. Get enough zinc and iron

Eating a balanced diet in general that contains a good range of vitamins and minerals is widely recommended for improving fertility. In particular, look at your zinc intake (a deficiency is believed to reduce the number of healthy eggs that can become fertilized and is generally considered an essential mineral as far as fertility goes) and iron (this mineral can "balance" ovulation). Research from Harvard University suggested that consuming more iron decreases the risk of infertility, especially if they come from animal sources.

Fertility tip: Good sources of zinc include shellfish, chicken, baked beans, nuts and fortified cereals. Iron-rich foods are clams, pork liver and cooked beans.
