The Procedure

The AHA peel is a relatively simple procedure, and will be performed in the doctor's office. Because the only discomfort is a mild stinging sensation during the actual application of the peeling agent, no sedation or anesthesia is necessary.

On average, the whole treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes, but your doctor may vary the length of time or AHA concentration to achieve the desired results.

After cleansing the area to be treated, the doctor will apply the AHA solution, wait up to 15 minutes, and then remove it. You can then leave the clinic, with no salve bandages or ointments needed.

Monthly or weekly peeling is usually needed, so you are likely to be repeating the treatment.
